Do you love a great Cricut project? Then this one is for you! There is no painting involved and you don’t need to create the blank. This DIY You and Me Forever Cupids Heart Arrow Sign Using Cricut takes just three different fonts and no extra work is involved!

It’s funny as a creative I look at everything with the possibility of using it for a Cricut project. This Cricut blank was no exception. In fact, it was actually in the childrens’ wall decor isle at Hobby Lobby. But I saw it for a different use which was to hang it on our wedding pictures gallery wall.

This was one of those DIY project ideas where I didn’t have to do anything to it other than to add the Cricut vinyl. The white wood arrow with three wood hearts on it was already painted in colors that worked for me, pink, light green and a slightly darker green. Although I also could’ve painted it any color(s) I wanted.

Another way to use it would be to put it in a nursery with maybe the baby’s name, date of birth, etc., on it in vinyl. You could even maybe add their first footprints in ink after the date of birth.

DIY You & Me Forever Heart Arrow Sign

What defines a great blank for using Cricut vinyl on? I would have to say it’s versatility; meaning, this particular blank wood sign could’ve been customized in a number of ways. Plus I like the idea that I could’ve changed the colors at any time to suit the needs of my project.

For this Cricut project I used three different fonts cut out of both white and black permanent vinyl. Even though they are different fonts I think they paired well together. Plus I got to use of some of my vinyl scraps! That’s a win-win in the creative world.

Again this project takes into account you are a beginner Cricut crafter. The steps are the same as in the DIY Valentine’s Day Wood Heart Decor Using Cricut and DIY Filled With Love Valentine’s Day Sign Using Cricut. But there are definitely some Cricut tips that I could offer you for this project.

CRICUT PROJECT TIPS

  • Use Paper Transfer Tape – I’ve mentioned this tip a number of times before. When transferring your permanent vinyl to wood, always use paper transfer tape. This prevents pulling up any small wood pieces from the project blank.
  • Aligning Script Font – To make sure you get your script font on correctly (1) use the grid lines in the transfer tape to line it up horizontally; then (2) don’t pull the full backing off. Instead fold it down half-way (exposing the top-half part of the wording only). Then line it up on the wood. Once it’s lined up, press down the top-half of the wording and slowly peel away the rest of the backing while pressing the script font down.
  • Hanging Your Wall Decor – If you plan to hang your project on the wall, be sure to check where the wall hangers are because you don’t want to apply the vinyl upside down.

For me, the hardest part of this whole Cricut project was getting the script lettering on straight. Not only do you need to get the wording on horizontally, you also have to be aware of getting it laid down without stretching the script wording. The Cricut tip above will help you with getting your script wording on with ease.
