How to create DIY Cricut Keepsake Love Notes Heart Boxes Step by Step
Ready to create these Valentine’s Day DIY Cricut Keepsake Love Notes Heart Boxes? Let’s get started!
Materials you’ll need
Step by Step Instructions
Step 1: Gather your supplies including a variety of scrap pieces of decorative paper. For a more unified look to your heart gift box use decorative papers with a similar color palette.
Step 2: Use the heart paper punch to make as many heart shapes as you want. You can fill the heart box entirely, half-way or just have a few decorative heart shapes. It’s totally up to you!
Step 3: Cut out your sentiment on black vinyl using your Cricut Joy Xtra. Remember that Cricut Permanent Vinyl has a glossy finish while the Removable vinyl has a matte finish. Be sure to measure how long and wide you need your sentiment to be for the heart box size that you are working with.
Step 4: Transfer the vinyl to the lid of the heart box. Check out my Cricut tip below for how best to transfer vinyl to a paper product. For this step you have the option to center your sentiment or run it along the bottom “point” of the heart shape.
Cricut Tip: Use paper transfer tape when adhering vinyl to a paper item. Even if you’re working with permanent vinyl.
Step 5: Add an extra heart border around the top of the lid using a black art pen. Let your border be organic and just lightly trace around the shape of the heart where there is no vinyl.
If you so desired you could even trace out a single solid heart shape and put a scalloped edge on top of that.
Step 6: The last step is to write your heartfelt sentiments on the paper hearts and gift your box! If you want to get really fancy writing your sentiments, pull out a fountain pen and give your messages all the lovely flourishes you want!

Q: Can you use removable vinyl instead of permanent vinyl?
A: Absolutely! Removable vinyl adheres just as well as permanent. Plus you have more colors to choose from with removable vinyl.
Q: Could you use a square box instead of a heart box?
A: Sure can! On a square box be sure to add one of the heart paper shapes to the top for a little added decor to your keepsake box.
Q: Can I use the heart shapes in my planner?
A: Yes you can! Use the heart shapes to write message or jot down quick notes. Then use washi tape or a paperclip to put them in your planner where ever you want!
