DIY Winter Farmhouse Barn Loop Yarn Wreath
Create this beautiful loop yarn wreath in a matter of minutes! It’s a great, easy craft, that is perfect for creating a non-holiday wreath for your front door. The best part is there are so many variations you could apply to this easy DIY Winter Farmhouse Barn Loop Yarn Wreath craft!

After the holidays are over and all the glitz and glam decorations have been taken down and packed away our homes can seem quite bare…bland almost. So how do you give your home decor a little boost after the holidays? By using winter style decor throughout your home!
Luckily for me I was quite smitten with all the green tree / pine tree holiday decor this past Christmas. As a result I may have gone overboard stocked up on a lot of decorations in this theme. I really liked the idea of still having up some “holiday” type decor without it looking like Christmas decor. You know what I mean?!

It probably comes as no surprise that I’ve really embraced a green winter vibe in my home during and after the holidays (except for my craft room office, of course). You can see more of what I’m talking about in my post on how to Create A Warm and Welcoming Farmhouse Christmas Entryway.
Of course when we think about winter most of us think about a dreary, gray day…cold…non-friendly driving conditions…I could go on. But that is exactly why I decided to incorporate green into my DIY loop yarn wreath! I mean there are days when the snow melts somewhat and we see our (dead) green lawns, right?!
My only regret with this DIY craft was that I wished the green loop yarn was a tad deeper green (more like a pine tree). But it still looks great because the lighter green is reminiscent of how the sun bounces off the snow covered yards.
DIY Winter Farmhouse Barn Loop Yard Wreath Tutorial
It seems like forever since I created a DIY wreath for our front door. I love adding a wreath because it’s a nice welcome to anyone visiting your home. Plus if the wreath craft only takes a matter of minutes, why not?! So let’s jump into this tutorial so you can start creating your own loop yarn wreath!
Here we go!

1
Wrap 1st Color of Loop Yarn
Start with one yarn color, wrap around the wreath form and secure with a knot. Then add a bit of hot glue underneath the knot to hold it in place.

My tip is to keep the yarn in a ball or bundle because it makes it so much easier to pass it through the form. As you loop the yarn around the form be sure to keep the yarn snug and pushed against the yarn already wrapped. This will be important when the white yarn is wrapped around the form.
Continue wrapping until you have covered about half of the wreath form.
Supplies are linked above but the exact yarn that I used for my DIY wreath: Yarnspirations Bernat Alize Blanket-EZ Loop Yarn in Hedge Green. The green foam wreath I picked up from Hobby Lobby (#1098003) and it measures 2″x15.6″.

Wrap 2nd Color of Loop Yarn
Start the white loop yarn in the same way as the green; tie a knot with the yarn and then hot glue down to keep secure. With a lighter color yarn against a darker color wreath form, it’s important to keep the yarn wraps close to each other; that way the green wreath form color won’t show through the white yarn.
Continue wrapping the white loop yarn until you’ve filled the remaining half of the wreath form. My loop yarn wreath took only one roll of each color.

At this point I had considered adding in a few white yarn loops to the green to mimic snow on the ground. But as I placed a few down I really didn’t like how it looked so I ditched that idea.
Now the wreath is ready for the metal farmhouse barn and Christmas pine tree decor.

3
Add Metal Farmhouse Barn Ornament
There are numerous winter and Christmas decor that you could add to your loop yarn wreath. For my DIY craft I chose a metal galvanized farmhouse barn ornament.

I decided to make my metal barn look more authentic to a farmhouse barn so I added a mini sisal bottle brush wreath. But, I didn’t like the red ribbon bow on my project so I pulled out my 1/8″ white satin ribbon and fashioned my own bow.
Next I hot glued the bow to the wreath and then did the same to attach the wreath to the barn ornament.
Supplies are linked above but the exact supplies I used were a Metal Barn Ornament from Hobby Lobby (#5368691) and mini wreath stickers from Michaels.

Add Bottle Brush Trees
Next I added a few decorative bottle brush pine trees which I also glued down. The taller tree measures approximately 3 inches tall and the mini tree measures approximately 1.5 inches tall. Both of the sisal bottle brush mini trees and mini snowflakes came from Michaels but similar supplies are linked above.
To the top of the wreath (in the white yarn) I scattered in some white sparkling snowflake mini ornaments (which I can’t see too well). These were also glued down. I didn’t think of it at the time but I could’ve added the snowflakes hanging down on string from the center of the wreath. That would’ve given it a nice winter vibe!
The last step was to add a ribbon to hang the wreath and on to our front door it went!
