Creating fun and usable gifts for friends is at the top of my handmade holidays gift list! I love to be able to create something special and know that the gift recipient will actually use what I made. For one of my friends I know that is true because I gifted her a glass from the Cricut Christmas Gift Ideas for The Wine Lover project.

Years later I decided to create a tumbler for her husband as a Christmas gift. After consulting with her on his passions and preferences I came up with this multi-use golf tumbler idea!

I’ve gotta say I know nothing about golf. In fact, I’ve always wondered why you’d want to be on the great open green on a hot sunny day. How is it fun to golf when you’re sweating and your clothes are sticking to you?! Maybe it’s just me but that doesn’t seem like a fun time.

These are the things I was thinking about as I created this personalized golf tumbler! Although I can really appreciate all the fantastic designs for golf that Cricut Design Space serves up. It was definitely hard to chose just one.

Personalized Golf Tumbler Details

Not only was this Cricut project personalized for the recipients’ favorite pastime the colors used in vinyl also represented his favorite hockey team, the Buffalo Sabres. Get all the details below for the full personalized golf tumbler project.

Design Process

Choose Sports Design: In Design Space all you need to do is use the search function to type in a single word focus. For my project, I simply typed in “golf” and was given a multitude of design options.
Size to Tumbler: For this project I used a tumbler that measured 2.87″ x 6.81″ high. So I sized the Cricut design to 3.5″ wide x 4″ high.
Cut & Weed: When creating custom Cricut drinkware projects I always use permanent vinyl. It holds up well to the daily handling and washing. For my project I decided to use two different vinyl colors. If you do this you can cut both the colors at the same time or separately. You just have to set this up correctly in design space.
Adhere Design: Before adhering your permanent vinyl be sure you have either washed the tumbler in soap and water -or- you can use some alcohol to wipe down the design area. Since you are adhering to metal you can absolutely use permanent vinyl transfer tape without worry.

Design Options

Single Color: In Design Space you will highlight your entire design and select only one vinyl color. Then cut.
Multiple Colors: In Design Space if you cannot separate the design you will need to make a duplicate of the sized design. That way you can select each design cut and assign a color to it. If you can separate or hide parts of a design then you simply hide the elements you don’t want to cut and assign the color you wish. Then cut.
