5 Ways To Create A Cozy Fall Living Room Corner
If you don’t want to fully decorate your home for the autumn season, why not just decorate a corner?! It’s the perfect opportunity to create a cozy reading corner! In this post I’m sharing with you 5 Ways to Create a Cozy Fall Living Room Corner in your home.
This particular corner of our living room measures 83″ x 63″ and I’ve always struggled with what to do with it. It doesn’t help that I really dislike our carpet color! I didn’t dislike it when we first put it in and admittedly it’s time to refresh that carpet to something more neutral.
This space is technically a little corner nook of sorts. The most you can fit into this space is a loveseat and one end table (which is what I have there) or a chair and table.
don’t miss out!

What I do like about the carpet is that it usually pairs quite nicely with autumn colors. Through the years it has always looked great with my cozy fall decor. But just look at how gorgeous this burgundy carpet looks with that rich autumnal gold color of the decor!
This rich autumnal gold color also paired wonderfully with our handmade oak wood trim my husband installed. He cut each piece to the style I chose and over the years we’ve switched out the dark tired walnut wood for this oak wood. I know it’s not a favorite but oak wood lends a soft, warm tone to any room.
Cozy Fall Living Room Corner Decor Ideas
Now that this cozy corner has been created I’ve got to decide how I plan to use it! It’s really speaking to me to make it a cozy fall reading corner. That said, let’s go over the hand-picked classic fall styles I chose for this space.
Target Home did an amazing job on the 2024 Fall Home Decor collection. I’m obsessed with every element of it!
1
Add Seasonal Pillows
These two gorgeous gems are from the Target Threshold collection. The first pillow is probably my favorite; it measures 20″ x 20″. It’s called “embroidered acorn tan” and I think that the perfect description for the pillow. The texture feels soft and wonderful against the hand.
The pillow in the back measures 24″ x 24″ and is called “woven floral square”. I love the almost antique look of it and how it flows into a more elegant look with the diamond patterned branches. In between the diamond pattern are sunflower and pumpkins. So you can’t go wrong with this pillow look!
2
Add A Cozy Blanket
What’s a good way to warm up any space? Add a cozy fall texture like a throw blanket.
I’m obsessed with this throw blanket. The texture and thickness is simply amazing and it’s so soft! It almost feels handmade with its’ chunky knit weight. Of course, if you have pets (like we do) then these dangling tassels make for perfect toys.
If you didn’t want to use an autumnal gold color to warm up your space, this throw blanket also comes in a soothing cream color. Which would also work perfectly well with any of the design elements in this look.
3
Add Pumpkins
No classic fall style is complete without pumpkins. It’s an absolute must to sprinkle them in and they do make for the perfect harvest accent to any look.
Of course, I just had to add in my favorite golden orange Rae Dunn pumpkin spice coffee mug! The color adds another layer of hue so that the whole look isn’t flat with just one autumnal gold color. I love the raised pumpkin shapes around the entire mug.
While I don’t burn candles anymore I still add them to my home design looks. I do use a mug warmer to heat up the candles though. It takes longer for the scent to release but it doesn’t give you burning soot either!
This pumpkin nut bread candle I’ve had for a while but I love the jar print and once the candle is gone I’ll hold onto the jar. When I’m not using the candle I can place the adorable pumpkin knob lid on it for the perfect finishing touch.
When relaxing in my reading corner…OH, I guess I just decided how I was going to use this space! I can click on this adorable little table lamp. Again, it adds another layer of a soft autumn orange color and it too has raised pumpkins all around the lamp.
I was not kidding when I said add in pumpkins! There are more crocheted and boucle textured fabric pumpkins on the wall shelf you can see in #5 below. Plus at the base of this vintage side table is a ceramic pumpkin.
4
Add Autumnal Signs
This is a great time to add in all those autumn quotes you love! I can almost hear the autumn leaves blowing across our driveway when I look at this sign. It measures 10″ x 40″, has a dark wood frame with an almost brown burlap material under the letters that read “Hello Fall”.
There are two more fall signs on the wall shelf you can see in #5 below. One sign reads “Pumpkin kisses and harvest wishes” and the other reads “Leaves are falling autumn is calling”. Both are perfectly styled to this whole space and overall cozy autumnal feel.
You could also use fall printables and create framed prints for your home design look. For example, you could use the 40 Inspiring Fall Bucket List Ideas free printable, resize it during printing and frame it for a fun side-table decor element!
5
Add Natural Elements
The majority of my pumpkin decor went on this wood shelf that sits above the love seat couch. The pumpkins all have natural fiber fabric on them in various shades of autumn orange, cream, white and plaid. Scattered around these pumpkins are pinecones we collected outside some years ago.
There is even a cinnamon scented grapevine mini broom hanging from a peg on the shelf.
Now that my little cozy fall living room corner is all set and decorated, it’s time to brew some tea, grab a good book and relax! Happy decorating!
