3 National Dog Day Journal Page Inspiration Ideas
Celebrate National Dog Day by honoring your beloved pet within your journal pages. But, if you are feeling that blank page syndrome don’t fret! In this post I share 3 fresh new Journal Page Inspiration Ideas to record your pets’ memories.

One of the things I love to document is a day in the life of my pets. They make for the perfect model in any memory keeping journal page. Plus it’s super easy because they each have their own personality. Some pets don’t mind being photographed and others don’t like it at all.
That was the case with our dog, Lucy. She did not like her picture taken! So any opportunity I had where she actually looked at the camera I grabbed a picture. Although in all honesty most of them are from her older years because she started to lose her eyesight. So she couldn’t really tell very well that we were taking her picture.

don’t miss out!

You’ve no doubt already seen A Dogs Love Pawprint Art Journal Page and you can see in one of the pictures she was shying away from the camera. But, I’ve got a thousand pictures of her…but only a fraction are with her looking at the camera and are not blurred from her turning away.
When I realized it was National Dog Day on August 26th of this year, it was the perfect time to share some more pages from the life of Lucy! What make this trip down memory lane even easier was having a spring-themed scrapbooking kit featuring a dog.

The kit I used was a collaboration between Cocoa Daisy and Linou Pots. It featured Linou’s adorable pugs in a spring-time theme with bunnies and butterflies.
Supplies
Any supplies not linked below can be found in my Amazon Shop.
- Cocoa Daisy April 2022 Kit Meadow (no longer available)
- Planner Perfect Travelers Notebook
- Canon Ivy Photo Printer
- Tim Holtz Distress Inks with blending sponge
- Paw Stamp
When I saw this kit I knew immediately I was going to use it to document our dogs life. After having created a few pages I decided to dedicate the whole journal insert to just documenting Lucy. This dog journal became even more important to me after her passing in 2022.
3 National Dog Day Journal Page Ideas
It is my hope that by sharing my dog journal page ideas you will be inspired to create some pet journal pages of your own pet(s). They deserve a place in our family history as well. This journal has become sort of a dog adventure journal of Lucy.

1
Happiness Is…
This is one of my favorite journal page layouts of Lucy. She really loved her little Easter bunny squeaky toys! One day as she was falling asleep I put her arm around the toy like she was snuggling with it. Adorable right?!
There was also a rare snapshot of her looking right at the camera too; which made the title of this page a perfect pairing.
Design Elements
- Tag shapes cut from kit paper
- Stamped paw prints
- Quotes from kit
- Bunny shaped sticky note
- Distress inks sponged on journaling page

That Face…
Lucy was a mixed breed small dog. When we rescued her, she was labeled as ‘mixed breed chihuahua’. We think though that she did have chihuahua in her but also some jack russell because she was CRAZY! Such energy!!
That aside because of her breed mix she was prone to developing eye issues. Which she did end up having high pressures in one eye and had to have surgery to remove it. When they called us to say she could be picked up I heard her howling in the background…it was heart breaking to hear her.
She was coming out of the anesthesia and was disoriented. But mostly it was because she wanted me to hold her. As soon as we got there and I held her she quieted down. Poor girl.
That day, when we got home and I held her, she leaned into me and just fell asleep in my arms. She never slept on me. So that was a very special moment with her. I had my daughter snap a picture. But it was the first picture of her sad looking face just after getting home that gave this page its’ name.
Design Elements
- Torn scrapbook paper from kit along edges of each page
- Both pages edged with distress ink
- Circle stickers from kit
- Quote stamps from kit
- Letter stamps for memory title
- Heart stamps from kit
- Date stamp

Happiness Looks Like This…
From my perspective, Lucy’s face says it all which is also why I titled this page as I did. She just looks so happy and content in this picture. Another quirky behavior Lucy had was when she stretched while standing she’d always flip her back paws up.
Although I didn’t grab this photo while she was stretching. This paw photo was while she was sleeping one time. Cute, cute, cute!
Design Elements
- Overall page color from blending inks
- Washi tape from kit
- Journal cards from kit, also edged with blending inks
- Diecut arrow stickers from kit
- Butterfly rub on from kit
- Heart stamp from kit
While you may not have this specific kit, you can recreate similar style pages using scrapbooking and memory keeping elements. The idea was to inspire you with the story behind the page and share the elements that went into each page.
