Typically when we think of Christmas colors we think of red and green. But since each friend has a different style I decided to do a more neutral and softer color palette for this DIY Cricut craft. It was these mint color pot holders that caught my eye for this craft project.
The best part about these DIY oven mitts is they are very budget friendly! The pot holder or oven mitt came from Dollar Tree and there are a variety of colors to choose from. Of course I just had to pick up more colors so keep an eye out for those projects!

Personalized Pot Holder Christmas Gifts
There are a plethora of free project designs in Cricut Design Space. But I choose this ‘Tis The Season For Baking design which if you aren’t a member it’ll cost you a whopping $0.99! Still very budget friendly!

1
Choose Sentiment
I think they longest part of this whole project was having to choose which design I wanted to use! This Christmas quote seemed pretty fitting since I was gifting with it a cookie mix. Once I had my design chosen I measured my pot holder and sized the design to my needs (see measurements in image above).
Before you get to the next step you have to decide if you plan to make your vinyl cut all one color or add in various colors. For my project I decided to keep it clean and simple with a nice crisp white vinyl design.
2
Cut Vinyl
Depending on how many of these designs you are cutting you have the option to cut individually or place them all on one cutting mat. This is important to know ahead of cutting because each decision will yield a different cut to your vinyl.
For example, one single-color vinyl design can be cut individually or as many as you can fit onto one Cricut mat. If creating a layered design, you will have separate cuts for each vinyl color. Depending on the size of your project, you may or may not be able to cut it all on one Cricut mat.
3
Weed Cricut Vinyl
The nice thing about this design project is that there were no small vinyl pieces that I needed to watch out for. I think the smallest is the little apostrophe in the quote.
4
Apply Iron-On Vinyl
The one big note I’d make here is that these pot holders are not exactly sewn evenly. Meaning they are a general size of 6.75″ x 8.5″ but the seamed edges can be a little wonky for lack of a better word. Knowing this all you need to do is double check your oven mitt and if it isn’t straight just keep that in mind before ironing down the image.
For my project I used my 9×9 Cricut EasyPress. While it does overhang the mitt a little bit it does get the job done. Before ironing on the design be sure to give your oven mitt a few seconds under the EasyPress to smooth out any wrinkles. You wouldn’t want your design to be affected by those pesky fabric wrinkles.

Fill With Goodies
There are endless options to choose from when you are ready to fill your oven mitt with baking goodies. I found the Betty Crocker pre-packaged brownie and cookie mixes to work fantastic in this DIY project. Using them also worked out perfectly because I found them right at the Dollar Tree store!
Another option you could add in when filling your pot holder is to include a recipe from your own kitchen. That would be a sweet touch! {wink}
The only note I’d make about this DIY Cricut project is that I would caution the gift recipient to not actually place hot pans on the vinyl side. Doing so will likely melt the vinyl.
