Taking on the task of gardening is always a work in progress. Sometimes it’s a struggle to decide what to plant and where. That’s why I’m sharing What’s In My Garden and in this series you will get loads of inspiration and garden bed ideas!

It’s summer and the perfect time to get outside and enjoy the sunshine. Which I do as much as I can. Just to feel that warm sun on my skin….it’s the best wellness plan anyone could come up with! Recently while working in my garden, it got me thinking about how I’d love to share with you, well…..what’s in my garden!

Plus I want to share all of the knowledge I’ve gained since I started my first butterfly garden in 2006.

My goal with this 10-part series is to share my gardens and hopefully inspire you to start your own. I’m not in any way shape or form an expert gardener. In fact, I rather prefer being a beginner gardener because it gives me the opportunity to grow with my gardens.

I’m in no way suggesting you rip out all your gardens and put in what I’ve planted. Rather, it is my hope you will be inspired and decide if your garden just needs a facelift (by adding in some plants); or just in need of some tender loving care.

Remember, this is your own special outdoor space with flowers, plants and shrubs that appeal to you. With each plant you put in, you’ll learn how best to care for it and I know it will thrive with your tender care. So let’s get started and dive right in!

About What’s in My Garden

During this gardening series I plan to share each of the topics below, over a 10 week period. Each post will highlight my tips for what worked, what didn’t, things I learned along the way and more.

As each post in the series goes live, I will come back to this post and update each topic with a direct link to that blog post. The best way to know when the next post goes live is to subscribe to the newsletter.

This gardening blog series just highlights another way in which I Create A Beautiful Life. For me, tending to my outdoor gardens is a very relaxing exercise and gives me the opportunity to connect with nature. It doesn’t hurt that gardening is proven to be good for your mental health and physical health, too.

Gardening is heart healthy!

Did you know that when you garden (i.e., pull weeds, plant flowers, etc.) you are burning between 200-400 calories per hour.

Starting a garden or tending to your existing gardens is the best way to start creating new, healthy habits and it checks off that self-care tracker we all have in our daily planners! Love vegetable gardening or fruit gardening? Then you can also add healthy living to that list. The benefits of gardening far out weigh any risks (bugs, bees, infected cuts).

In the last post of this series, I’ll also talk about my gardening plans and goals for 2022. These garden goals are ideas I’ve tossed around for years already. So, maybe 2022 will be the year to accomplish them (fingers-crossed).
