Looking for a fun and festive way to update your porch decor for the summer? In this post I’m sharing Patriotic Porch Decor Ideas for 4th of July! I’m pulling out all the stops for a festive red, white and blue all-American welcoming porch!

If you’ve followed Behind the Designs long enough you know how much I love our wrap-around farmhouse porch. I’ve enjoyed decorating it for summer, fall as well as enjoying quiet time on the side porch. Over the years our porch has weathered nicely and gives a true farmhouse feel to the overall look.

But this might be the last porch decorating idea I share until we address our porch floor which is in dire need of some loving care and updates. I truly love the aged look of the porch but I’m also looking forward to giving it a facelift!

Overall I think the only element I wasn’t 100% thrilled with was the wreath on the house. It was beautiful in and of itself but I think a wreath that was a little more prominent would’ve looked better. I also wished the star rug was a bit bigger too.

Patriotic Porch Decor Elements

  • Patriotic Flag Lumbar Pillow by Place and Time (Joann)

Patriotic Porch Decor For 4th of July

For this easy summer patriotic porch decor idea I wanted to keep it simple and bring in a bit of nostalgia. You can’t get any more nostalgic than a delicious bottle of Coca Cola! Yum!

I’m going to talk a little about this drink bucket. I’ll start first with the “ice”. Since I was taking this photo before the actual 4th of July holiday I use faux “ice cubes” that I picked up at Michaels. I told my daughter that I hoped the ice didn’t melt before we finished the pictures! They did really look like real ice cubes.

Doesn’t this “iced” drink bucket look too good to ignore?! Don’t you just want to grab one of those Coca Cola bottles and take a nice long sip of that “cold” beverage?! I know I do!

Let’s move on to the metal bucket. I loved how the bucket had the same aged feel as the porch floor. My only wish was that I had put some Cricut vinyl stars on it. I thought about it but decided to not make this post about my Cricut obsession! Rather I wanted it to be about the nostalia of just sitting on the front porch, sipping a Coca Cola, enjoying the summer and all that is around you (sans the phones!).

Now while relaxing on the front porch with a cold bottle of Coca Cola, we can play a fun game of giant Jenga too! The challenge will be getting it back to its’ glorious American flag setup after playing a few rounds. This giant Jenga game is supported by a vintage farmhouse milk can that was my husbands’ grandfathers.

When we got the milk can it was just a plain galvanized look. I decided to paint it red since that matched most of our decor at the time. It’s been over 12 years since we’ve had it and I haven’t changed the color once.

I love how the red milk can pairs perfectly with the 14″ round wood table top my husband custom made for me. I simply told him what idea I had in my head, I chose the stain color and it came out perfectly!

Have a safe and happy 4th of July!
